About the Artist

Charles Benjamin was born in Patten, Maine. In addition to painting, Mr. Benjamin published several books including a history of Patten entitled A Hill Town in New England.  It is believed he enjoyed traveling, having painted a picture while in England and also publishing a book entitled England in Lodgings.  He also published several treatises on  mechanical engineering, including The Steam Engine:  A Concise Treatise For Students and Engineers.

View of Mount Katahdin from Mount Chase is currently being shown throughout the state as part of a collection of artwork featuring Mount Katahdin.  Several other pictures by Mr. Benjamin are on display at the Veterans Memorial Library located on Main Street in Patten, Maine.  For additional information, please contact Christine Shorey, the Librarian.
