About the Artist
Charles
Benjamin was born in Patten, Maine. In addition to painting, Mr.
Benjamin published several books including a history
of Patten entitled A Hill Town in New England. It is
believed he enjoyed traveling, having painted a picture while in
England and also publishing a book entitled England in Lodgings.
He also published several treatises on mechanical
engineering, including The Steam Engine: A Concise Treatise For
Students and Engineers.

throughout the state as part of a collection of artwork featuring
Mount Katahdin. Several other pictures by Mr. Benjamin are on
display at the Veterans Memorial Library located on Main Street in
